MOBILE MICROGRAPH LABORATORY SK 4000

Our micrograph toolkit enables easy, quick, reliable, and inexpensive assessments of the quality of a crimp or welded connection.

All of the applicable work steps, including cutting, grinding, etching and imaging, are integrated in this micrograph laboratory. A sample holder with a quick tightener enables placing the sample without time-intensive mounting and resetting between the individual processing stages. A conclusive micrograph can be made at any time for spot-checking samples. Quality errors are found immediately and production errors are avoided.

Although the SK 4000 was designed for portability it can also be used as an inexpensive and space-saving stationary micrograph lab.

Advantages of the portable micrograph laboratory:

  • Quick – 3-5 minutes after production of the connection, at the site
  • Simple – any employee can use it after a short familiarization session
  • Inexpensive – 1 micrograph from €0.68. Example based on 10,000 micrographs incl. consumable materials, such as abrasive paper, felt tips, and electrolyte.

For imaging an optical microscope with integrated USB digital camera is used. A measuring software Viso 6.00 for complete documentation of the micrograph is available separately on request.

Cutting and grinding module


♦ The sample only needs to be attached to the sample holder once for the cutting and grinding process.
♦ Precision fine-adjustment of the sample feeder
♦ Cuttings drop into a tray and are easily removed.

The sample holder is attached once to a carriage and manually fed to the cutting and grinding modules. The sample feed rate can be set very precisely using the fine-adjustment. The cutting and grinding modules can be controlled separately and continuously up to 20,000 rotations per minute. Cutting and grinding discs can be changed quickly.

Electrolytic Etching Station

The electrolyte is applied to the sample by means of an etching pen. The electrolytic etching station helps with the preparation of the polishing surface after cutting and grinding. A felt pen soaked in electrolyte is used as a cathode. This removes the ridges and prepares the polishing structure so that the detailing can be recognized. The etching process can be continued or repeated as desired.

Transportable Micrograph Laboratory

All components and accessories are in one aluminum case. Ready for use in about 30 sec.

Imaging
During evaluation, the sample container is always centered on the stand under the respective optic lens and the section remains visible. Any additional optics can be integrated into the system without reconfiguring. Everything can be stored in the case.

Zoom Lens and USB Camera with LED Ring Light System

By using the USB camera, the additionally available software and a PC or laptop, all samples can be measured two-dimensionally, easily documented, managed, and archived. An external production quickly can send a copy of the micrographs, as needed or at regular intervals. This enables the QS department to evaluate the quality of the production process remotely, and intervene as needed.

Additional Information

To safely transport consumable materials, two storage compartments are integrated in the case. Their organization can be rearranged. The firm metal lids are quickly opened using clamping fasteners. The respective optical devises are stored in the case lid for safe transport.
A large assortment of accessories is included.
A basic imaging and analysis software is included with the delivery of the USB camera.

The Micrograph Laboratory SKM 8000 consists of: SKT 6000 Cutting Module, SKE 3000 Etching Module, and LMX 2000 Optical Analysis Unit.

The combination of these individual powerful modules from ELPAC forms the versatile and high-performance SKM 8000 micrograph laboratory. With Viso 6.00, our measurement and documentation software, everything is in place to meet current and future requirements for quality assurance and in-line production monitoring. SKT 6000 cutting module with automatic cutting feed

This cutting and polishing module enables the user to produce high-quality micro-sections from crimped and welded connections within a cross-section range of 0.03 to over 80 mm2. The samples can be clamped quickly and easily into the sample carrier. The constant clear view of the cut and polished slice guarantees precise positioning of the samples on the required cutting plane. The cutting and polishing processes take place in a single operation. The sample feed during the cutting process is automatically motor-powered. Cutting speed and pressure remain constant throughout. Damage to the sample is thereby prevented. The sample holder does not need to be removed for manual polishing.
 

Electrolyte etching module SKE 3000 with variable etching strengths

The etching station is used to prepare micro sections after cutting and polishing of the sample. A felt tip dipped in electrolyte is used as the cathode in this case. This removes the burrs and prepares the ground specimen so that the relevant details can be seen. Elpac supplies two different electrolyte solutions for this system. The customer can then choose between a slightly acidy and a neutral solution. The electrolyte solutions are stored securely on the device. Etching and cleaning pen plus spare inserts are placed, ready to hand, on the device. The SKE 3000 module has three etching strengths - 0.35 A, 1.50 A and 3.15 A. An LED indicates that etching is in operation.

ETCHING MODULE SKE 3000


The SKE 3000 electrolyte etching station is used for the production of micro sections. This optional device can be used for easy conversion of existing micro section labs, which still operate with aggressive chemicals, to an electrolyte process.

Elpac supplies two different electrolyte solutions for this system. The customer can then choose between a slightly acidy and a neutral solution. The electrolyte solutions are stored securely on the device. Etching and cleaning pen plus spare inserts are also placed, ready to hand, on the device.

The station is used for the preparation of polished surfaces after cutting and polishing the sample. A felt tip dipped in electrolyte is used as the cathode in this case. This removes the burrs and prepares the microstructure so that the relevant details can be seen.

The etching process can be interrupted and repeated at any time. There is no need to neutralise the sample.

The SKE 3000 module has two etching strength s - 0.35 A and 3.15 A. An LED indicates that etching is in operation.

Analysis and documentation
With the use of our optical analytical units and and Viso 6.00, our measurement and documentation software, everything is in place to meet current and future requirements for quality assurance and in-line production monitoring. Viso 6.00 for instance includes automatic measurement and calibration, possibility to check optimal tolerances matching and actual presets for checking the conformity.
The optical analysis units from ELPAC comprise a tripod, optic, adjustable LED annular illumination and a USB camera with software. In conjunction with a PC or Notebook they allow you to display, document, analyse and archive object images.
VisoPro is our easy-to-use measurement and documentation software. It makes easy work of the measurement of micro sections and distances between drilled hole centres in circuit boards for example. It supports a variety of image software formats (bmp, mf, gif, jpg, gif, png, dxf and more).
 

LMX 2000 - Zoom-USB Microscope

The LMX 2000 is a universal optical measurement station for quality assurance and supports graphical display, measurement, documentation and archiving of your samples. The 6.5x zoom optic is equipped with an array function and a shutter. The high-resolution USB 2.0 camera also enables mobile use of the measurement station on a notebook.
 

Viso 6.00 measurement software lets you make all standard automatic measurements calibration.
